Concrene Limited announces business development partnership with Thomas Swan
Concrene Ltd is pleased to announce that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Thomas Swan - one of the global graphene leaders and also leading UK independent chemical manufacturer.
Thomas Swan’s GNP (Graphene Nano Platelet) products have been tested in a number of concrete samples by Concrene Ltd and have shown compressive strength improvements of greater than 20% with loading of less than 1% by weight.
The addition of Thomas Swan's GNP to Concrene® will make the composite material not only greener, more durable and stronger, but also more water resistant which certainly will find various applications in the precast concrete and house building sectors.
The Concrene® technology is set to positively disrupt the construction industry globally. On a local level, this new concrete falls under Categories 2 and 3 of the Modern Methods of Construction Framework, developed by the UK's MMC champion Mark Farmer, and is ready for market use.
Michael Edwards, Commercial Director – Advanced Materials at Thomas Swan said “we are delighted to be working with Concrene in this exciting partnership. With 8% of the World’s carbon emissions emanating from concrete production, this demonstrates a tangible commitment to our internal goal of achieving Carbon Net Zero by 2030, in addition to carefully expanding our focused application base. The team at Concrene will drive our GNP dispersion options in multiple regions, consolidating our position as a global volume manufacturer of graphene”.
Dr Dimitar Dimov, Founder at Concrene Ltd said “This is a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to working with Thomas Swan to bring Concrene® to the global construction market. This new type of concrete, reinforced with graphene on the nanoscale level, is suitable for a range of categories of the UK’s MMC framework and will address both the government’s decarbonisation strategy and the national house building crisis.”
